The title of the site “Inter-are: Untangling the Tangles,” derived its name from a quote of the Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh:
“If you are a poet, you will see clearly that there is a cloud floating in this sheet of paper. Without a cloud, there will be no rain; without rain, the trees cannot grow; and without trees, we cannot make paper. The cloud is essential for the paper to exist. If the cloud is not here, the sheet of paper cannot be here either. So we can say that the cloud and the paper inter-are.”
The whole site is build on the idea that the world as such does not exist in itself and that our states of affairs do not happen in themselves. It aims to discern the interconnections of everyday happenings, our perceptions, and our responses to them. Specifically, it is discerning how things happen, the aim for which is to help individuals to understand that they are not isolated from each other, that they need to understand each other and that they need to be proactive in striving for a better world. In other words, it is also to help individuals see the diverse sides of a picture and thus to enable them to be open-minded and creative.
The blog thus welcomes articles and essays from people (1) who might want to analyze the existing social, economic, and political systems, (2) who might have innovative ideas and solutions to pressing local, regional and global issues, or (3) who might simply have something critical about life and everyday circumstances of life.
Yet this blog is also a personal one, as it displays my understanding of the world around me. In this blog, I will have tried to interpret the world in the way I see it. It is up to the reader to interpret that very interpretation based on his/her understanding of the world. This itself creates an interaction and therefore serves as an example of what it exactly is meant by saying that this blog is all about discerning the interactions.
It is also personal in the sense that it displays my works, my interests, and my experiences.

Life is an illusion.
Hello, first of thanks a lot for stopping by. Thanks a lot also for your insightful comment. As for life being an illusion, I agree to it with my own definitions of what it means to be an illusion. But for some it might sound awkward.
Some speak of life being a reality, reality in the sense of life being what it is with all its fluctuating circumstances. But reality is contrasted with illusion. If so, then it seems contradictory that life should be an illusion.

Yes, most of the authors are either PhDs or PhD graduate students in philosophy. I am a professor and have a general background in world religions, but when Johnathan Flowers signs on, we’ll have a specialist on board. He specializes in Japanese aesthetics. Most of our contributors are taking their doctoral exams and won’t be publishing for a few weeks.
